Materials & Method
What separates a 5-year bathroom from a 25-year one is what's behind the tile. We waterproof with Schluter-Kerdi or Wedi systems, set tile in modified thinset, and use solid-surface or porcelain slabs on shower walls to minimize grout lines. Quartz and sintered-stone vanity tops outperform marble for daily wear, and brushed nickel, unlacquered brass, or PVD black fixtures all hold their finish for decades when sourced from the right manufacturers.
