Vinyl replacement
Best value. Welded frames, foam-filled chambers, no maintenance for decades.
Cover plate · Energy-Efficient WindowsSpec Sheet № 12 · Issued 2026
Replace drafty windows with double-pane, low-E units that cut energy bills and street noise.
Section A
Everything written into the contract before the first nail. Lines are itemized, not bundled.
Section B
Three lanes most energy-efficient windows jobs fall into. Pick a lane on the walk-through; the budget follows.
Best value. Welded frames, foam-filled chambers, no maintenance for decades.
Stronger and thinner frames than vinyl — more glass, more view, paintable.
Real wood interior, aluminum exterior. Premium look for historic and high-design homes.
Laminated PVB glass that meets coastal wind-borne debris code — also slashes outside noise.
Section C

Window performance comes down to four numbers: U-factor (insulation), SHGC (solar heat blocking), VT (visible light), and air leakage. For Houston, we spec SHGC ≤ 0.25 and U-factor ≤ 0.30 — a meaningfully tighter envelope than builder-grade units. Argon-filled double-pane glass with a soft-coat low-E layer typically pays back the upgrade through electric bills in 4–7 years.
Section D
AAMA-certified installers — flashing and sill pans done right
Manufacturer-direct pricing on Andersen, Pella, and Milgard lines
Full-frame and insert installations, both done correctly
Glass-seal warranty on premium product lines
